Commercial Kitchen Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Commercial Kitchen Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the approximately 1,500 square-foot commercial kitchen at KAM Appliances. The manager provides logistical and administrative support to users and ensures that the commercial kitchen meets the CCCI mission of assisting food entrepreneurs in launching and managing successful businesses by providing: (1) a fully licensed and equipped commercial kitchen they can use for the development and ongoing preparation of their food products; and (2) professional food industry technical assistance designed to improve their business operations, market penetration, profit, economic scale and sustainability.

This position reports to the Board of Directors of the Cape Cod Culinary Incubator.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a liaison between kitchen users and the Board of Directors, including managing bookings in Food Corridor and fielding questions and concerns from both users and the Board of Directors
  • Onboarding new users into the kitchen as needed
  • Ensuring proper sanitation guidelines of kitchen are met
  • Coordinate receiving of deliveries for members and ensuring they are put away in a timely and organized manner
  • Takes regular inventory of equipment and smallwares
  • Ensures all users maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas assigned to them
  • Ensures all users keep kitchen clean and organized
  • Ensures all equipment is properly working and schedules equipment repair and maintenance
  • Assists the Board of Directors in ensuring that the technical assistance provided to food entrepreneurs responds to their needs, including:
    • food/recipe costing
    • learning to prep on a larger scale
    • building systems to maximize kitchen efficiency
    • sourcing product in the area
  • Assists the Board of Directors in promoting businesses of food entrepreneurs using commercial kitchen 
  • Works in conjunction with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a communications plan for the kitchen

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience (required)
  • ServSafe Manager Certification, current within past 3 years (required)
  • Highly organized with excellent time and space management skills (required) 
  • At least 2 years of professional management experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of facilities, vendor managements systems, operations, and maintenance (preferred)
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including presentation and public speaking skills (required)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment (required)
  • Flexibility, creativity, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively (required)
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management, social media and electronic communication platforms (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, respectful and accommodate differences in a multicultural workforce (required)
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organizational environment (preferred)
  • A passion for great food and a willingness to taste anything (required) 
  • Ability work with people of diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds (required)
  • Ability to speak passionately and articulately about our mission (required)
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 50+ pounds (preferred)

This will be an on-site position based in our kitchen at KAM Appliances. Duties may need to be undertaken during and/or outside of normal business hours. Weekend and holiday availability is required, as well as hours in the early morning and late at night.
